A little background
From leaving school at 16, Jay spent 2 years at college where he gained a BTEC National Diploma in Sociology, Psychology and Social Studies.
After spending a year as General Manager of a retail outlet, he joined the British Army as a Combat Medical Technician.
Over the next 12 years, Jay was stationed across both UK and Europe and has deployed frequently on overseas operations with a variety of Rapid Deployment Regiments.
Prior to leaving the Armed Forces, Jay was the Senior Pre-Deployment Medical Officer for the Rapid Reaction Joint Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Warfare Regiment.
However, all of this was to come to an abrupt halt, when Jay was medically discharged from the service diagnosed with PTSD!
Whilst many would have used this as an excuse to ‘give up’, Jay battled all the odds and has worked at Consultancy / Advisor level with a number of well-known high street chains, bought and significantly grown an existing business, set up and run 3 of his own businesses, sat on the board of a national government advisory board and non-exec board for 3 other businesses.
Having worked with both public sector, corporate Plc’s, as well as Micro and the SME market, Jay’s no-nonsense understanding of business success strategies, have been fundamental in his own success, and a significant influence in many others.
In 2012 whilst speaking on behalf of the Federation of Small Businesses, Jay’s keynote was considered so powerful, it was nominated and subsequently won a Global Entrepreneur ‘Big Impact to Business‘ Award. The following year, he went on to host his own Global Entrepreneur Event, for which the event was nominated and won a ‘Big Impact to Business‘ status award.
Jay is currently listed on the Smith and Williamson Power 100 as one of the top 100 Business Influencers in the UK.
Jay’s speeches predominantly concentrate on both personal and professional growth and development and whilst his personal story is most inspiring to all, he predominantly works in the Business to Business arena.
As a Regional Ambassador for the UK registered Charity Combat Stress, Jay also talks both incredibly honestly and emotionally about his own journey of Mental Health and conquering through adversity.
